Element Emporium

Many years ago (1976), the young doctor Elson Haas met a very creative princess and storyteller extraordinaire for the children. Her name is Bethany Argisle. If you have read some of my books, you will see that Ms. Argisle is a long-time collaborator and guide for my books and career. We still are good friends and work together, now more in earnest to Help the Children and Save the Planet!

Well, back in those late 1970s, we put our creativity together and began a business we called Health Harvest. We bought and sold a new line of Anatomy T-shirts designed by a medical illustrator, Leslie Arwin, who is now an MD and anatomy professor at my alma mater, University of Michigan. As a matter of fact, we wrote songs back then about each of the body systems and performed them in schools for many years with our associate Gary Guitar. Bethany and I also decided to create our own line of health products in the area of New Medicine, the first one being Sole Sox(TM) with the Reflexology chart printed on the bottom and the anatomy of the foot and leg (bones and muscles as two different designs) printed on these very comfortable and durable cotton socks. We enlisted Dr. Arwin's artful help and created a licensing agreement with a good company (The Athletic Supporter) in the Detroit area run by the Berris brothers, and they produced first our Sole Sox, and then our Acu-T (acupuncture meridians and points, front and back over bones and muscle art) and then our beautiful Chakra-T (with a colorful serpentine design of the chakra energy wheels). Well, the Athletic Supporter still produces these products for Bethany and her companies, Argisle Enterprises, Inc and The Element Emporium, the online sales division. Many years ago I felt I was too spread out and needed to focus on being an author, teacher, and physician, and thus, I turned over the company to Bethany. She has kept it alive and vital.

Clayton College of Natural Health (CCNH)

I have developed a close professional association with Clayton College. I love what they do and I love the committed people who run this distance-learning school that offers numerous courses in Holistic Nutrition and degrees in many health-related areas. In 2007, I became one of their official professors after working and teaching with them at conferences including their large national spring conference in Atlanta. CCNH is based in Birmingham, Alabama and we like to say that, "I practice what they teach." We are educating the educators at Clayton with a focus on them teaching people about Natural Health and Good Nutrition. It also allows homemakers and working people to get trained in natural health such that they can help their families and communities. I realize that this is different from people who go to a four-year school to become Naturopathic Physicians as they do at places like Bastyr University in Seattle and Southwest Naturopathic College in Phoenix.

I encourage those of you who want to learn and be a positive influence on your own health as well as that of your family, friends, co-workers, and communities to explore the opportunities at Clayton College of Natural Health.
